Business Pages are usually taken over through the personal Facebook account of an admin, often after a fake “copyright violation” or “Meta support” message. Act fast: hijacked pages are used to run scam ads on your card.
First hour
- Go to facebook.com/hacked and follow the steps for the admin’s personal account. Use a device and network you have logged in from before.
- Secure the email address linked to the account first (new password, MFA), so the hacker cannot keep resetting it.
- If Instagram is linked, use Instagram’s hacked account help.
- For Business accounts, follow Meta’s Business Help Center guidance and remove unknown people, partners and ad accounts.
- Check your card for ad charges and tell your bank.
Avoid the second scam
- Meta will not message you on Messenger threatening to delete your page.
- Ignore “recovery” offers in comments or DMs; many are run by scammers.
- Never share login codes.
Stop it happening again
- At least two admins, each with an authenticator app (not SMS) for two-factor.
- Use a dedicated admin email with MFA.
- Review Business settings monthly for unknown people or partners.
Scammers also impersonate businesses with fake pages. See our fake account reporting.
Questions
Can I phone Facebook support?
Meta does not offer general phone support. Be wary of anyone claiming to be Facebook support who contacts you, or “recovery experts” in comments: these are common scams.
The hacker removed me as admin. Can I still get the page back?
Often yes, through Meta’s hacked-account process for the personal profile that was an admin, then Business support. Keep proof of ownership ready.
Need a hand getting it back?
We guide you through Meta’s official recovery routes and help secure the account afterwards. We never ask for your password.
